Jean Laffite is perhaps among the most famous pirates of all time. Starting as a French privateer, he became the master pirate of New Orleans and helped Andrew Jackson defeat the British in the Battle of New Orleans.
From New Orleans, he established a new base on Galveston and assisted the Mexican Revolution against Spain, all the while serving as a spy for the Spanish. Learn the stunning truth about America’s most famous pirate.

The museum will participate in the next Largo Central Railroad public run on Saturday, February 7th.
Stop by Largo Central Park to ride over a mile of rails with LCR and say hello to Tim, who will show a car or two out in the field. Largo Central Railroad is growing, and we're happy to be invited to their event!

The museum will participate in Ponies for Paws to help benefit Pinellas County Animal Shelters.
Visit the Pinellas Park Performing Arts Center on Saturday March 21st to see lots of fantastic Fords, including the museum's very own 1914 Ford Model T!
We have officially kicked off our fundraising campaign. We hope that you will consider purchasing a personalized brick to be installed in one of several areas here at the museum. Your donation will be used to improve our education programs and outreach in the community.

On Exhibit: Passing of the Horse, 1983
by Stanley Wanlass
An internationally known sculptor, designer, and painter, Stanley Wanlass' bronze monuments and memorials can be seen throughout the United States, including "End of the Trail," which honors the Lewis and Clark Expedition. His automotive bronzes are exhibited in prestigious museums and collections around the world.
Passing of the Horse, which celebrates the evolution of transportation, is part of an edition of thirty bronzes.

Wanlass' details evoke the thrill of motoring on the very cusp of change: An automobile races past a horse and rider. Motorists cling to their hats as the goggled driver leans in with determination. A dog tries to keep pace with the car to no avail, for the car moves quickly toward its destination. A boy and his friend look out over the horse and rider, who by now are becoming a distant memory. Picnic baskets on the sideboard appears to be fortified with celebratory food and drink.
